Tirta Empul Water Temple
Culture and food walks around Ubud, licensed temple guides.
We re-check every operator licence and insurance policy once a year. If a licence lapses, the trip comes off this site the same week.
What this actually is
Tirta Empul is a working water temple, not a photo set. The guide walks you through the offering you carry in, the order of the 13 spouts, and the two you skip — those are for the dead, not the living.
Wrap a sarong, queue with everyone else, and do not photograph the purification pools up close. The rule is enforced, and it is the reason the place still feels like a temple.
We start at 7am because by 9 the coaches arrive and the queue for the spouts runs 40 minutes. Same water, a tenth of the people.

What travellers said
Our guide explained which spouts to skip, which nobody at the gate tells you. 7am start meant no queue at all.
Short but genuinely informative. Do not skip the spring source above the pools — most people walk right past it.
